27 months 12,780 deviations in my inbox later, I suppose I'm back. I've pretty much abandoned drawing, especially now that ~WittA is out of school and is fucking phenomenal and I'm not even helpful to her anymore on that front. So it's to writing full time--and as you well know, that means nothing getting posted here. I barely have time for our projects, let alone throw-away things. And, really, everything is a potential project.

I'm getting married in less than a week and it's been a trip. ~WittA designed my gown and I had it made by a friend of mine, and Christ, it's...I don't even know. To have something go from Ash's mind to paper into reality is bizarre and exciting. I'll have to post the pictures.



Project Status Rundown

Three of Swords needs a re-write. It drifted too far into that weird realm where I care too much about retarded symbolism and completely lost its theme. Ash is trying to re-envision its style, too. It could be a while, what with...

Scorch, Ash's Halloween/high school brain child in the works. We're composing as submission to Slave Labor Graphics. You know, for real.

Lemon Chiffon Suicide has stalled, surprise, surprise. I still generate ideas here and there for it, but the pressure's off since I have an ending and all the rest is pretty much fluff and style.

Hybrid Faith has been back-burnered since the last time I reported on it and there it will stay. I think I grew out of the premise. Maybe I'll revisit it in ten years when religious shit is out of vogue again.

Mayu no Densetsu is in a chronic state of near-completion, story-wise. We've been distracted.

The RPG parody has a basic framework and the characters are coming together. I'm not really invested in the project like Ash is, but it's fun.

I've been working quite a bit on Reign of Adeodatus, although I have yet to touch a word on it. Being a sounding wall and filling plot holes has been a lot of fun and I'm totally into the project now, even though it sounded like a waste of time when Ash started it. The effort she's put into it has made all the difference, though, and it's really coming into its own and is gorgeous. Angel Cemetery, the main arc of the story has taken a back seat to this project. I keep telling her that you have to finish the main story before you release the prequel, but she's really good at not listening to me.

The web site, dun dun dun, has a new name, new art, and a whole new design doc. As soon as this wedding crap and derby uniforms and Halloween are over, this is my main focus. My roommate can whip it up in Ruby in probably a day and a half and it will be a thing of beauty. Tarts 4 Life!

Lately I've been immersed in the world of costuming, and it's been a lot of fun. I'm sewing a dress for Ash for the wedding, and it's come out so nicely. Pattern sewing is so different from quilting (really the only sewing I'd done previously), and working with brocade and grommets and boning and bias tape and interfacing and pattern altering and all that crap has been a huge learning experience, but all told, I haven't fucked it up. Maybe I'm just destined to write Salinger-esque angsty coming-of-age novellas and make period costumes. Fuck what I actually want to do in life...

Oh yeah, I've pretty much given up coding, too, since I'll never get a job I like. Love the subject, hate the field. Plus I'm just not all that great at it. I'm too abstractly oriented, and all the design jobs are way up on the ladder. (I think breaking up with my boyfriend of five-plus years and catching pneumonia in my last semester of school helped to really put a damper on my love left-brained activities.)

Which reminds me, my school-related video game project, Shadow Children seems to have fizzled, between my being too busy, Ash being uninterested, our lead programmer going to Microsoft, and our composer having family issues. Maybe one day. After all our innovative shit has become cliche. C'est la vie.
